Go A-Team

The Russell Spring Elementary Academic Team was awesome in their competition Saturday March 1, 2009.  The Quick Recall team won first place over all. The future problem solving team came in second.   In individual test we had several winners.

In Math Josh Melson 1st place.  Social Studies was won by Kayla Stephens.  In Science Assessment Sidney Shearer received 3rd place.  In Language Arts Blakesley Warriner received 1st and Erin Wolford won 5th place. In Arts and Humanities 1st place was Bonnie Hill with Blakesley Warriner coming in 3rd.  Congratulations to the coaches Erin Barnes and Jennifer Stephens

Kayla Melson is home, and adjusting well to her new lifestyle. Kayla and her entire family would like to say a special thanks to RSES teachers and staff for ALL the help and kindness shown to her and her family during this trying time.  Also a big thanks to Kayla's classmates and their parents.  Kayla says a SPECIAL thanks for all the Get Well Cards she received that brightened her days.
Sometimes we do things to help others just because we know SOCIETY says its a good or right  thing to do.... Well, unless you are on the receiving end of the help, you can't imagine how sometimes the smallest of gestures is a mountain of a hope. There were times when just your phone call of concern renewed our faith and helped us hang on for better days.

There are stacks of coats that students have been left around the building or on the playground. If your child has lost a coat, sweater or jacket please come by and go through the pile!  Students sometimes do not recognize their own coats and will not pick them up.  I urge every parent to write your Childs name in their coat!

Volunteers are always needed to read with students, make learning centers tutor or to simply help the teacher to keep the room clean.  Contact the family resource center for a criminal background check.  This is required before you are allowed to volunteer.
